Spring is so great, and oh ya'll.
SUMMER FLOWERS>>> let's be honest.
In fact, that lush, full look you see in flower farm marketing or in photos that are in tall, cultivated rows with thousands of blooms? Those are summer rows.
And summer flowers are magical for two reasons:
One, if you are new to growing or need simple: these are where you start.
And two, most summer cut flowers are what we call cut-and-come-again varieties. Meaning literally the more you cut and harvest the flowers .... the more they send up new ones. They enjoy being harvested from and get bigger and bigger every week until first frost in October.
And right now, mid-May, is when they get their start.
Garden nurseries and big box stores definitely have flowers. But they're landscape varieties - meaning they are going to stay pretty small and they aren't cut-and-come-again. They're meant to just be ornamental in the yard.
The kinds we grow? They've been bred to be harvested from. Long stems, pastel, aesthetic color palettes, and good in a vase.
And we've got a bunch of extra to share with you - the same stuff we grow right here on our cut flower farm during our summer annuals sale This Friday, May 8th from 10:00 a.m. - noon. (parking and line open at 9:40!)
