Favorite Fall Bulbs for Spring Blooms

We have ordered all of our fall bulbs (that overwinter and bloom in the spring) and are anxiously awaiting our last few shipments so we can get them in the ground!

We plant lots of spring flowers, but the bulbs we put in the ground each fall every year are tulips and daffodils. Not just your regular single-petaled tulips and daffodils, though, we get really special ones that always have people asking, “where on earth did you get those?!”

Our tulips are double-petaled, sometimes called peony-tulips because they are so big and full. They are what we fill our spring bouquet subscriptions to the brim with!!

They are not only double-petaled, but they have specific characteristics that make them a good cut flower, not just for the landscape. Not all flowers are this way.

Our daffodils are special, too, with beautiful different forms and colors than the ones you see in traditional landscapes.

If you want spring blooms, it does take a bit of advanced thinking. The bulbs actually require being in the cold ground for several months in order to bloom come springtime. So if you’re wanting to try them, order some quick to get them in before Thanksgiving or so.

Alternatively, if you’d like to just buy a few to try, we will have some in smaller quantities at our farmstand throughout October or until sold out! Make sure to watch your emails for when we open those!

I’ve made a little infographic with all the varieties we will be planting this fall, along with basic info and planting instructions. You can grab it by putting your email in below!
